How this data is verified

Every treaty status, article, rate and threshold in this tool is stored against its own source, article reference, protocol, MLI position, effective dates and last-verified date. Nothing is published until a tax reviewer and a senior reviewer have signed it off, and pre-MLI text is never presented as current without flagging the modification. Sources are used in this order:

  1. 1. Official treaty text as published by the contracting states
  2. 2. Protocols amending the treaty
  3. 3. Official MLI positions and synthesised texts
  4. 4. Tax authority guidance and circulars
  5. 5. Government gazette notifications
  6. 6. Secondary professional commentary — supporting only, never the primary legal source

Treaty benefits depend on tax residence, beneficial ownership, domestic law, anti-abuse provisions, MLI modifications, substance and transaction-specific facts. This tool provides an informational comparison and is not a substitute for jurisdiction-specific tax advice.

Common questions about tax treaties

Ask an international tax advisor

Tell us the payment you are planning and we will confirm the treaty position from the official sources — the article that applies, the conditions, the documentation, and whether the benefit is realistically available at all.

Nothing here is tax advice, and no enquiry confirms any treaty rate, exemption or entitlement.
